101 Uses for PocketLearn Viewers

Just because the PocketLearn system is built around the "flash card" paradigm, it doesn't limit its utility in many other areas.  In fact, the PocketLearn viewer's many features can make it useful in a variety of scenarios.  We'll provide the first ten here to get the ball rolling, and maybe you can suggest other uses until we reach or exceed 101!

Use #1

Flash Card Study.  OK, this is the obvious one, but it's an important one and we should list it nonetheless.

Use #2

Test Taking.  Another obvious one, but PocketLearn Viewers are designed to not only allow you to test yourself, but to administer tests to others.  Imagine a teacher with a classroom full of students that can administer a test to students individually as the rest of the class works on other projects, using the classroom's PDA.  As each student finishes, the teacher saves the results and imports the scores into a spreadsheet program for analysis.

Use #3

Recipes.  Keep all your favorite recipes on your phone or PDA.  Use PocketLearn "Sections" as recipe categories such as "Desserts", "Appetizers", "Main Dishes", etc.  PocketLearn Viewer's "jump" menus are easy to navigate and allow you to find specific recipes fast.  Maybe the "question" side of the card lists the ingredients, and the answer side lists the instructions.

Use #4

Presentations.  Take an HTML based presentation anywhere you go and always be prepared to make that presentation.  You don't need to carry around a notebook computer to get your ideas across.  Take a client to lunch and view the presentation in the palm of your hand while sitting at the table.

Use #5

Note Cards.  Help save the rainforest and stop using index cards.  Just create the information as PocketLearn content.  Use it to study, review, give speeches, etc.

Use #6

Music.  Carry with you the words to all your favorite songs.  With the audio option, you can hear each song as you use the lyrics to sing along.

 Use #7

Knowledge Games.  Create your own trivia or specialized knowledge games to play with friends.  Play a "Jeopardy" style game by using PocketLearn "Sections" as Jeopardy categories, Use the dollar value as the card name, questions as the "answer", and answers as the "question".  Confused?  Watch "Jeopardy" and you'll understand.

Use #8

Photo Album.  Create a PocketLearn title using all your favorite pictures, categorized and ready for display.  Use the "jump" feature to find the picture you want quickly.  Add audio and you can have a great multimedia photo presentation.  Use the "hands-free" feature in the Plus! version to let you just sit back, watch and enjoy.

Use #9

Catalog/Reference.  Carry with you vital information that lets you do your job even better.  Have quick access to product information, parts information, procedures, processes, policies, etc.  Nothing extra to carry around with you.  Just your phone or PDA.

Use #10

Reader.  Use PocketLearn to create and view your own reading materials such as books, articles, inspirational stories and thoughts, famous quotes, etc.

When we went about designing and developing PocketLearn software, we focused on creating a great standards-based learning system for today's smart devices.  It wasn't until we were finished that we realized it could be such a versatile tool, useful in many, many ways.
