PocketLearn's mission is to create and promote a "standards based" learning
system based on the flashcard paradigm that can be utilized on PC's, smart devices,
and the World Wide Web. Using PocketLearn software, smart devices such as
mobile pones can become a
powerful tool for learning. We are committed to developing and making
available free software to both create and utilize this
standardized educational content.
The PocketLearn approach has key advantages. The hardware and operating
system differences between the many smart devices are no longer relevant.
By standardizing the content and providing free software for these many
different devices, the focus has become the content. Even
between dissimilar devices, PocketLearn software is consistent in its user
interface, so users do not need to relearn the application as they change or
upgrade devices.
In addition to providing free software for creation and utilization of the
content, PocketLearn maintains a large online repository of content, which can
be browsed, searched, rated, downloaded, and added to. Content creators
determine the destiny of their own creations by choosing one of many license
types for their content. While we expect that much of the content created
will be free, we also expect that some of the more sophisticated content will be
available for purchase.
