Create and Share Projects Online

One of the exciting new developments at PocketLearn is that you can now create content directly on the web site, without resorting to "offline" use of Flashcard Studio content creation software for Windows.   While Flashcard Studio for Windows remains a great and easy way to create content, the online method works well for individuals who don't have Windows computers, and for anyone preferring to create content online for any reason.

Introducing Projects

A project represents some content that you have created or are in the process of creating.  A project begins life when you click on the Create Project tab from any of the pages on the PocketLearn web site.  You "own" the projects you create and you manage them from the My PocketLearn tab.  Below are the main facts about projects:
  • Only registered PocketLearn members can create and view projects
  • Your projects are private, unless you choose to share them.
  • Projects are not published to the PocketLearn repository unless you specifically choose to publish through the Submit Title tab
  • All projects have a fairly cryptic 16-character ID that uniquely identifies them
  • You can share projects with friends and classmates
  • Once you share a project, you can always choose to NOT share it.
  • You can delete projects at any time
  • You can have a maximum of ten (10) projects
  • Only the original project creator (owner) can modify a project.  The individuals that you share a project with can only View and Download the content
  • You can create and change the content of your project by importing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or Comma Separated (CSV) text files.  In the near future, you'll be able to perform HTML editing online.

How to Share Your Projects

Project sharing is designed to allow you to share your creations with friends and classmates, without publishing to the main PocketLearn repository.  Sharing is a simple, three step process:

  1. In your Project's main page, make sure the Share Project checkbox is "checked"
  2. Send your friends the project ID of the project you want to share.  We recommend that you copy and paste the ID and email it to your friends.
  3. Your friends, from their  "My PocketLearn" tab can view and download your project content by entering (pasting) the project ID in the Projects Being Shared with Me section
We hope you enjoy this great new addition to the PocketLearn site.  We will be interested in hearing your thoughts and suggestions.
